Eating disorder test

The following questions have been prepared to help you find out if you have an eating disorder. They are not meant to be an infallible method of diagnosis, nor does a negative answer to these questions give you the guarantee you do not have an eating disorder.

We are aware of the fact that a diagnosis of an eating disorder is a very serious matter, and very personal. We hope these questions can help you. Please try to be as honest as possible about your inner feelings whilst making this test.

Yes
No
  1. Do you think about eating/not eating all day?
  2. Do you ever feel guilty about what you have eaten, because you might gain weight?
  3. Do you have a strong desire to lose weight?
  4. Do you ever eat a certain amount of food that others might call a binge?
  5. Have you ever felt you could not stop eating after you started?

  6. Have you every purged to lose weight?
  7. Do you ever use laxatives to gain control over your figure and your weight?
  8. Have you ever exercised excessively with the goal to gain control over your figure or your weight?
  9. Do you rather eat alone than with company?
10. Do you avoid foods with sugar and fat?
11. Do you let the number on the scale determine how you feel?
12. Are you afraid to gain weight?
13. Do you often delay meals?
14. Do you ever eat secretely?

If you answered yes to two or more questions you could be suffering from an eating disorder and it would be wise to seek help. If you are a alcohol addict or not, is a question only you can answer. We discovered we all answered yes to some questions prior to recovery. The first step towards recovery is to recognise the problem and to inventory the addict behaviour.
